The most popular argument I hear for not legislating AI Companies who are pursuing AGI in the U.S. is "if we don't build it, then China will."

Okay, but how do you then make sure the superintelligent, omnipotent word-cloud-god will actually do what you want it to?

I have a high degree of confidence that AGI will be bad for humanity because it will

1. Have so many data points about what is actually happening in our shared reality that it is effectively omnipotent

and

2. Have lifetimes worth of data on how to manipulate humans' perception of reality...
