Ghost of Yōtei complete. The story was predictable, but the performances gave it emotional weight, especially from Erika Ishii. And just like it's predecessor one of the most visually beautiful games I've ever played. Gotta say, the combat wore on me by the end. This is a good place to leave it.

I probably won't 100% it, but I'm determined to finish Ghost of Yōtei tonight or tomorrow.

Yōtei time has slowed considerably. Like 85% of my gaming time this weekend was Warframe. It's unfortunately just so damn fun to play with second screen content. Yōtei demands my full attention. When I do play, I still take a ton of screenshots. This game is so damn pretty.

My Yōtei journey continues, if a bit slower paced than before. Other games eating up my time, plus Next Fest. Still enjoying it though, and I just ordered a bunch of Akira Kurosawa movies if that says anything. God I'm gonna be such a fuckin' movie snob...

After 35 hours, I've finally crossed the second name off of Atsu's list (admittedly after doing every on the map I could between there and the beginning of the game). The narrative pace and side quest could use some work, but otherwise it's been a lot of fun!

This evening's Yōtei update brought to you in part by: Seven Samurai, which I will now gush about for the foreseeable future. It's a truly great goddamn movie. Go watch it. Practically goddamn art.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled Yōtei update.

Getting to the first real story progress after 20 hours, and of course I choose the snow zone. Ain't nothing like it.

Really wish I had more time to take off to just play this game. It's been really, really great. May even make me go back and replay Tsushima when I'm done.

Yet another Ghost game is bringing out the screenshot fiend in me.

Yeaaaaaaah. Ghost of Yōtei has it.

Lad acquired! (He also has the cutest idle animation of all time!)

Finally got an Exotic set for my Firebrand build together, then slapped a snazzy glam on top of it. Also finally tried out the spec, and man it's NUTS. The flexibility is kind of insane. Really looking forward to wrapping my head around it!

Thanks to the last week of streams from Grinding Gear, I've started up a file of Pokemon Black that I fully intend to finish for once. The team's coming along, but Cottonee may not be long for it.

It was tough, but I think these are they. Games that have irreparably changed my brain chemistry, or otherwise have introduced me to genres I never would have touched.

Turns out, just one more demo to add.
Absolum - sidescrolling beat 'em up roguelike. This game has the sauce. Cool player characters, cool world, neat justification for the roguelike elements. Combat is great, every upgrade I've found so far is interesting, and not just a percentage damage increase.

I picked up Xenoblade Chronicles, just to diversify my Switch 2 library a bit. Been enjoying it so far, largely a chill experience. The thing the game does best though is scale. Looking around, you really do feel like a tiny human crawling around on the shin of a colossal biomech.
June 15, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Cairn - intense and brutal climbing game with a narrative. Didn't get into the story much in the demo, but the level of intensity with the climbing hooked me. Just a lot of fun climbing and testiing your character's limits as you progress. Even just finding where to place your hand next is intense.

Hirogami - this one genuinely surprised me. I expected an origami Metroidvania based on the trailer (which sounded cool). What I got was origami Super Mario World 3D, and I'm not mad. This game's cool! It lets you turn into an origami armadillo.

Ambrosia Sky - probably my favorite demo of Next fest so far. You play a disaster specialist in space, returning home for the first time in fifteen years as it's being overrun by an alien fungus outbreak. Vibes are peak, reminiscent of Prey 2018. Feel like it's gonna be a very moving story.
June 13, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Ball x Pit - interesting twist on both roguelikes and those bubble shooting games you'd play when you were a kid. Gameplay itself is fun, there's also some meta progression with a town you're building up in the background.

After finishing Andor I needed some Star Wars games in my life, so I picked up Outlaws finally. Not too much to say so far since I'm only five hours deep or so, but the vibes are absolutely immaculate.

Pallegina is back in my party once more. All is right with the world.

Correct choices were made. This is the most Hastrael, shithead grin I've ever seen.
May 1, 2025 at 2:54 AM
In my now eternal quest to remake my FFXIV character in as many games as possible, Monster Hunter Stories got me to make the decision that yes, Hastrael absolutely woulda had one of those cute lil' fangs as a kid.
