Can’t wait to epistemically read it.

Middling day but I think these movies are all fun.

Highlights: John Leguizamo final scene in The Happening. The Sloth puppet using the PC. Josh Hartnet.

Lowlights: unfortunately there’s not all that much to do with a beach that makes you old and the movie does most of them carelessly.

Trap
6/10 fun, good concept, poor execution

I don’t hate M Night, he made The Visit!

This movie is way better than I was led to believe, but still not very good.

Hartnet is only held back by the writing and visual style.

Serial killer escaping concert is a cool idea, should’ve stuck to that.

Old
4/10 best visuals of the night, cool weird factor, mostly a chore

The concept is highly limiting but interesting.

The horror is neat, the acting is as good as I think we can reasonably expect.

The morality play (the bad guys cure epilepsy?) is strange. Omelas.

Mostly it’s just a mess.

Slotherhouse
7/10 fun, sometimes funny

This movie intends itself to be ridiculous and succeeds mostly, a lot of spray ‘n pray comedy, but doesn’t play too safe.

It’s mostly practical effects on screen which I love for horror. The sloth puppet shined.

Made me nostalgic for the Evil Bong movies.

The Happening
5/10 ridiculous, maybe overhated

To me M. Night’s bizarre writing is more uncanny valley than artistic virtue, but this is his best midcareer work (04-13).

Wahlberg can’t play a smart guy, Deschanel is good and well-cast.

Leguizamo is the best part, maybe. Didn’t finish, seen b4

TDAT
5.5/10, enjoyable, nostalgic, not very good.

Quaid feels like a WalMart Harrison Ford. Truly weird to see him in a movie of nonstop democrat talking points.

Gyllenhaal and the young people are the charming heart of this movie.

Fun visuals, some notable dated vfx, frozen Wendys is neat.

I worry that the way western philosophers treat non-western phil. can be split up into two camps:

1. NWP is a novelty, it’s neat, but basically wrong about everything important
2. NWP is fundamentally different, mysterious, mystical, the solution to what ills us.

Both objectionably orientalist.

I still feel it might have potential to be a blow out. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to really watch any games in real time unlike the past two WCCs.

You should just have two subheadings to disambiguate which invitations were complimentary and which were derogatory.
