Gracias totales.

Man, Kamala really should have ran for CA Gov., could have really done some good and cleared the field, alas. It'd probably be better it if there was no 2028 run for President, though.

Funny family anecdote: my grandmother (whom I do not like due to reasons) iirc voted for the milquetoast center-left LGBT marriage accepting candidate in 2018's runoff because the other candidate was Protestant and this woman is Catholic through and through. Honestly so based (for once).

I wonder from a sort of detachment (to maintain sanity) who is more incompetent: the Venezuelan or the American government. On one hand we have the most kleptocratic corrupt tinpot dictatorship on the continent; on the other hand, it is still possible they give the Americans a black eye.

Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku is just so good man, feel myself grinning madly now that I'm rereading the manga from the point the anime left off of. GOATed, viva el romance!

Dandadan is just so fucking HYPEEEEEE! That ending scene lmao, anime-onlies will go nuts... Anyways, Science SARU you magnificent bastards, GOATs.

It's a conundrum to be a downwardly mobile middle class person in this moment; in part it is my own pride to not accept my circumstances perhaps (like going to Subway a bit more often than needed, not helping that it is across the street). I recognize I'm still incredibly privileged, of course.

Dandadan is just so fucking good man, I felt so much cringe from Kinta but fucking hell this series never lets up, Science SARU knock it out of the park always, GOATed.

I will say, that even though I failed a Philosophy and History Seminary course in uni aborto 2 years ago, now that I'm retaking it I'm enjoying it again, led me down a rabbit hole into anarchist thought (interesting though in practice I still sustain the State), good to be an engineer w/ conscience

My main complaint with Bluesky rn is that it's showing me accounts dunking on Arsenal when I'm clearly an Arsenal fan; in non-politics the algorithm is a bit strange it seems.

It's weird how the current situation forces me to reevaluate stuff like trade; particularly in Costa Rica protectionism has been the rule of the land for decades and I don't necessarily disagree with its measured, but it's made us the most expensive country to live in Central America by far.

The one thing I will say is that the zeal I see for Just Cause'ing Bukele, while warranted, should not be translated into overthrowing the asshole immediately; when the moment comes that Dems can retaliate, they gotta use the financial might of their country to twist the Salvadorian arm first.

Seeing the current zeitgeist as a non-American, most Americans seem to me to be dumb as bricks and for once it would be good that their fucked up choices come home to roost. Not that I have much hope for positive change, and ofc there will be much suffering, but there's no negotiating with madmen.

In an overly long trip back home, I've had a slightly existential crisis when I realized that I am now older than Evariste Galois when he died. Kinda fucked.

Finished Nineteen Eighty-Four; great novel, of course informed by Orwell's own biases and his epoch, but overall a fantastic exploration of the depths of human cruelty and oppression, exaggerated for good effect. I'm so glad I didn`t spoil myself in the Charrington and O'Brien twists.

Drunk af, spoilers inbound, Sunrise on the Reaping was so stupidly good, the Lou Lou twist left me cold, Ampert's fate left me speechless, and I was about to bawl my eyes out at Haymitch's fate, absolute cinema, obviously I cried at the epilogue. So so good.

I've begun reading Sunrise on the Reaping. Collins stings truer than ever in these trying times. Uncannily so, even, considering the book was completed before 2025 most surely. Tbf, the Hunger Games have always been the gold standard for YA dystopia imo, so it's no surprise that she hits the mark.

Re:Zero is just so peak, once it is adapted fully it may yet be one of the GOATs of anime, fantastic all in all.

Been reading 1984 (of course always latent), and boy does it shine through Orwell's hatred of Stalinism (much deservingly and I say this approvingly). Such a shame that right-wingers have completely twisted the meaning of the book for decades.

The solace I find in these troubling times is that uni while challenging is so fun to be in, and so fulfilling to my soul to be surrounded by friends and joy. Kinda nuts to feel so optimistic personally while pessimistic wrt the world, but it's good to find happiness within.

Freshman initiation at uni always gives me happiness, the goal is to motivated people into not abandoning the career lmao.
