Stitch is being very helpful this morning, despite his age being well over retirement he’s still overseeing my postcard preparation! 🥰🐶🐾

What a lovely afternoon at my children’s old school talking about dinosaurs and miniature dogs! #Authorvisits are one of the best parts of being an author ✍🏼🐶🦖📖🥰

Chatted with 8 classes in Bath and then 8 classes in Manchester all in one afternoon! Virtual visits when planned & all working well (good wifi, camera working etc) are such a valuable resource for schools, affordable and interactive & still promote reading for pleasure! @bmonstersbooks.bsky.social

Not quite sure how I managed to have a nap before my first zoom for Swop 2?! But managed to wake up and really enjoy talking to a school in Oxford!

I’m really hoping to do some zoom author visits outside of the UK in January as part of the launch of Swop 2 The Daring Dinosaur Detective 🐾🦖📚
If you are a school/or know one that loves books and would be interested let me know! #internationalschools #authorvisits @bmonstersbooks.bsky.social

I didn’t realise this was #nationalgriefawarenessweek these are all great books to open conversations. I purposely included a family’s story after a bereavement in Swop, to show how a family member can be remembered/included positively in family life even after they have died.

How lovely are these?? I’m on the train home from Stockport & I’m reading through all the ‘Thank You’ and ‘Welcome’ cards the Year 6 Reading Ambassadors have made for me. Such a lovely school & such a positive reading for pleasure environment. 🥰📚 #authorvisit #Stockport @bmonstersbooks.bsky.social

“Are you Roald Dahl????” 🤔 Loved my author visit today to Finchley. Although this first question slightly threw me off…
I didn’t know whether to tell him that sadly he was was dead or that he was a man! So I just said “Sorry I’m not..” he was very disappointed… 😳
Authors can you beat my question? 🙋🏼😂

I love using calligrams, I like to try and add in as many clues to the meaning of the words! Squeeze is one of my favourite words in Herman Needs A Home to talk about. #authorvisits #readingforpleasure

Sending out signed books after last weeks zoom visits this morning. It is always fun to think they will be reading them soon at home. Virtual visits have a place too in schools and if planned carefully can be really regarding for the school and the author! 😊 📚 @bmonstersbooks.bsky.social

I have a ‘helper’ 🥰 He’s not interested in the rock cakes just the butter. He won’t try & touch it though he’s just staring hopefully at it!

I’ve never been called magnificent and fantastic before! Makes author visits feel so worthwhile when you get a letter from a child, and it really doesn’t need to be as positive as this one 🥰📚

It was our second London Day tour of Ebbs & Flows with #SarahSurgey yesterday & we were in Richmond. Love a plan that comes together well! We visited 200 children, 2 schools & had a planning meeting. Such a fantastic day, so much positivity & love for books & reading 🥰📚

Very excited to be spending the day visiting Richmond schools, so much so I have treated myself to banana cake for breakfast 😊📚 #authorvisits

Getting books ready for school visits is one of my favourite things to do! These are for KS1 class in a Richmond school tomorrow morning with our author #SarahSurgey #EbbsandFlows It’s lovely to have my publisher hat on tomorrow too so I get to watch Sarah do her thing 😊

Absolutely love meeting school dogs 🐶📖. This one was as amazing as he was enormous. Heard how he has connected with so many children. Even a boy whose parents would have to cross the road with him to avoid passing a dog in the street was now happily reading to him. 🥰 Any more school dogs out there?
