There's also a whole movement to get bins in mens toilets, as increasing numbers of cisgender men are saying they require them for incontinence pads - the language is interesting - these are clearly sanitary bins but them have a description that could also be from a lynx deodorant: DESIGNED FOR MEN

But there are differences in the 'modesty flap' at the top & in the orientation of how you put the pads/tampons in

It's also curiosity, like with any object, once you start looking, there is so much to see!

To my knowledge, there's no typology of sanitary bins, but there are many differences (although the basic model hasn't changed much) - flip up lid, pedal, rectangular shape

Until a few weeks ago there was no article for sanitary bins on Wikipedia ... But there is now & today it's one of the facts on Wikipedia's front page
