Been using blender on a weekly basis since late 2016. It's been a journey with up and downs learning it, but if it didn't exist then I probably would never have gotten into making 3D content and eventually meet my fiancé and so many of my friends.

If you play VRChat, you owe A LOT to blender!

with base station tracking & the steamvr ecosystem you could just mix and match and everything would work together (even if it required a little faff sometimes)

i’m just peeved that with inside out you’re locked in to a controller
can only use that controller with that headset, and you can’t use the controller with any other headset either.
i’d get the controller instead of the knuckles just cuz of the swappable battery, but i doubt it’ll work w/o the hmd

Use the saw, fear the saw When I learned to use a table saw, my teacher impressed upon me that the machine wants to cut fingers. Fear the saw! Powerful tools can do powerful things. If you want to make handmade wooden furniture you must cut wood. Your desire to have limbs and your desire to have furniture are not at odds if you learn to use tools safely. There are table saws that will stop at the touch of a finger, but I don’t know of any chainsaw that won’t cut an arm. There is a limit to how safe a tool can be before its function is crippled. We should not stop making powerful tools because they are dangerous. Rather, we should empower people to use powerful tools safely. I use the saw, I fear the saw. I have handmade furniture, and I have all my limbs.

I still don't get why people insist on not making VR accessible, the "if you can't handle flashing lights then don't come" argument works irl because you can't just turn off the flashing lights without screwing over everybody else... but VR is literally somewhere you CAN do that

The Apple Calculator leaked 32GB of RAM. Not used. Not allocated. Leaked. A basic calculator app is hemorrhaging more memory than most computers had a decade ago. Twenty years ago, this would have triggered emergency patches and post-mortems. Today, it's just another bug report in the queue. We've normalized software catastrophes to the point where a Calculator leaking 32GB of RAM barely makes the news. This isn't about AI. The quality crisis started years before ChatGPT existed. AI just weaponized existing incompetence.
