Stunning historical anatomical illustrations, I love the overlap with the visuals of plants and phytology, how botanical these are - the kidney like a seed pod, and the bronchial tree like some sort of ivy or bramble 😍

Is it just me or can some books only be read in certain seasons? The summer / autumn transition, changing of the leaves, alive but w/ heaviness in the air & a change to the textures & sounds of the landscape has me really reaching for Max Porters book 'Lanny' & another visit to Dead Papa Toothwort

On World Anatomy Day, we honour the gift of understanding the human body—its design, resilience, and vital role in life. Studying anatomy is to witness nature’s quiet genius. Most sacred are those who donated their bodies, their silent generosity shaping so much of what we know about ourselves.

Some of my thoughts on what the history of anatomical illustration tells us about consent, and what we might consider moving forwards. theconversation.com/the-dark-his...
The dark history of medical illustrations and the question of consent
Historical anatomy textbooks are built on the bodies of prisoners, the poor and the powerless – and we’re still using them today.

Cannot express how excellent the spicy tantanmen ramen, with sides of crunchy chicken karaage and the show stealing crispy sichuan aubergine, were yesterday from Tomo no Ramen in Old Market - a stones throw from the centre and a must visit for anyone visiting 😍

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for our minds is just as vital as caring for our bodies. It's OK not to be OK; 1 in 8 of us live with some form of mental health imbalance or disorder. Today, be gentle with yourself and others, everyone carries something unseen.
