I miss this silly Billy so much when she's not around, even though she's a goofy sassbag, contributes nothing to the rent, and takes up the whole bed #dogsofbluesky

Happy my abstract has been accepted for the @slsauk.bsky.social conference 🥳
I’ll be presenting on anatomical imaging: exploring how images of cadavers are managed, & how gaps in law & guidance leave decisions to individual's ethics & morality.
Grateful to contribute to such important conversations

A thoughtful new short video from BBC Scotland highlights the importance of body donation with clarity and care. Scottish anatomy has a remarkable way of getting this right and Viv is the ideal voice to guide the public through such a vital, often misunderstood process.

What happens when you donate your body to science?
Human bodies have been studied and dissected for thousands of years, sometimes to extreme lengths. But what happens if you donate your body to science now?

Only 5 days left to join my talk exploring the remarkable student project that reconstructed the face of one of our unknown silent teachers. It’s been an important step in memorialising and giving thanks to those who shaped our knowledge without recognition.

Brill day yesterday at @cendeathsociety.bsky.social I was made to feel so welcome & had great conversations with so many death scholars, each bringing such different perspectives. The “Death during conflict” talks to end the day were a real highlight: powerful, insightful, and incredibly moving.

Stunning historical anatomical illustrations, I love the overlap with the visuals of plants and phytology, how botanical these are - the kidney like a seed pod, and the bronchial tree like some sort of ivy or bramble 😍

Is it just me or can some books only be read in certain seasons? The summer / autumn transition, changing of the leaves, alive but w/ heaviness in the air & a change to the textures & sounds of the landscape has me really reaching for Max Porters book 'Lanny' & another visit to Dead Papa Toothwort

On World Anatomy Day, we honour the gift of understanding the human body—its design, resilience, and vital role in life. Studying anatomy is to witness nature’s quiet genius. Most sacred are those who donated their bodies, their silent generosity shaping so much of what we know about ourselves.

The dark history of medical illustrations and the question of consent

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for our minds is just as vital as caring for our bodies. It's OK not to be OK; 1 in 8 of us live with some form of mental health imbalance or disorder. Today, be gentle with yourself and others, everyone carries something unseen.
