Library Systems and Services was involved at one point, submitted a bid to take over library services in Warren. They retracted their bid. Samuels has continued to provide library services through all of this, whether county funded or not.

If you’ve been following #SaveSamuels at all, you’ll know that this has spiraled into a 2.5 year battle for the library. Started with book banning campaigns, morphed into “the library is financial irresponsible.”

Samuels Public Library has been operating on donations and other state funding since July 1, 2025, and it seems we shouldn’t expect help to come from the county anytime soon.

Don’t get me wrong, Warren County Schools are underfunded as well, and I’m all for funding the Fire Department, but not by cutting the budget meant for the library.
