Halloween 2025... I'm Creepy Pasta Garfield. Sorry, Jon.

My horror novel is done, at 87K words. Finished on time despite a summer spent in the hospital due to three separate events that saw my father-in-law's death, and both my husband's and my father's hospitalization for serious issues. This feels like one of the most unforgiving things I've written.

My husband's new work place is a small but gorgeous library.

Our office cameras can use facial recognition to sign in, except in my case it seems. And now I feel like technology is swiping left on me, every time it sees my face.

We just watched the Argentinian horror film "When Evil Lurks." What a tense, unrelenting film.

With my slow ramp back up into normalcy, the words flow more easily, and I'm getting back on track with my novel. Tomorrow, the return continues with a trip to the gaming store and an overdue birthday gift! Now, what would complement my last purchase... Daggerheart?

Holy Crap... Gencon's happening now?! Sad that I'm missing it and likely to miss it for the next few years, but fuck it. Elbows up.

First day I've truly had off in a month that didn't involve the day job or going to the hospital, and I STILL feel guilty for not being productive.

Four long weeks starting with my father-in-law opting for medically assisted death at the end of his fight with cancer, and then five nights spent caring for my husband in ICU. His two-and-a-half weeks in the hospital ended on Sunday night, and now he's receiving home care for a month. Jesus, 2025.

I don't find the Nun from the Conjuring/Annabelle/Nun franchise to be all that frightening because I keep thinking it's Marilyn Manson in a habit.

I'm curious if there's another social media outlet out there that folks are on, because to be honest, I'm not vibing as much with Bluesky as I was on Facebook before it went down the dumper. I'll still be on here, but is there one that facilitates more interaction than building audiences?

I know my insomnia was getting bad when I woke up after 7 hours of sleep this morning, completely mystified by having slept, and waiting for the curtains to drop and reveal it'd been a prank or ruse or something.

I know I don't post very often, but with everything happening in the world, including private stuff unfolding, it's hard to post while I'm making an effort not to add to the weight of things. Another part of that is for personal reasons. I'm trying to find positive outlets for my frustrations.

I've been reading a ton of manhwa over the last couple of years and my latest love is "The Ki Sisters" on Webtoon (free)... Edgar Allen Poe meets RuPaul. It's full of sass and camp, and both Etienne and I love it.

Encountered on my way to lunch and now all I can think about is: "What happened to the child who was using that seat and are they safe?!"

If you're looking for a fun roguelite, deck-building horror game to play, Deck of Haunts by bsky.app/profile/mant... games just released. I played the demo on Steam, and had fun trapping investigators in my haunted house and driving them insane. Can't wait to dive into the full game.

I compile scores for the novels I work on. This new project certainly has a brooding, heavy vibe, something I walk away from feeling... heavy. It's one of the most saturated horror novels I've written.

Trump's allegation about high Canadian tariffs on America Dairy is MISLEADING. Yes, it's at 200-250% depending on the fat content, BUT only when dairy EXCEEDS import limits. Before that we inflict ZERO TARIFFS on the $1.14B imported from the US. Only cheese has come close to exceeding that limit.

TIL that Jack McBrayer and Alexander Skarsgard are very close if not BFFs. Silly and I'm not sure why knowing that really put a smile on my face.

Sushi at K2 Bistro on Crescent in Montreal, a Ghibli themed resto. Lovely way to spend Saturday night with the hubbie.

With Gencon housing opening up, we sadly won't be attending Gencon for the next few years, or even visiting the States, which sucks because it means not seeing friends for a long time. Any money for vacations will be spent on supporting the Canadian economy.
