Update from me, given the most recent statement from The Equality Project. #BetterTogether2025

Jason from TEP has now posted a personal apology re the anti-trans Matt Beard interview. I'm actually pleasantly surprised: unlike the previous statement, this one acknowledges that it was a) hurtful, b) harmful and c) misinformation. Still missing any next steps, but maybe those will follow.

Today's GiveOUT Day, a major fundraising event for queer community organisations in Australia! :) I'm helping raise funds for Rainbow Community Angels. It's a volunteer-based safety initiative that arose in the context of attacks on Drag Storytime. See more here: giveoutday.org.au/luciella-sca...

Hey folks! Speaking of funding antifa and how that's a super cool thing that everyone should be doing: did you know that I'm on the organising committee for the Rainbow Community Angels? And did you know we are currently raising funds? 👀 link below.

Please explain reading to me further; it's truly such a complicated concept.

Aren't treaties usually based around resolution and restitution for violence? This one looks purely symbolic, albeit with a small amount of cash set aside specifically for construction works and advisory bodies. Where's the real treaty?

Yuge if true.

My thoughts on the anti-fascist response to the "March for Australia" protests in Naarm/Melbourne.

A tale of two Rowlings, who are, in fact, the same Rowling.

Ngl, kinda funny that the police response to a bunch of protesters attempting to block a bridge in Naarm/Melbourne was "you can't block it if we block it first".

...Less funny when you realise this is funded by public money.

Their annual financial statements are on the ACNC website. Because they are, for some reason, registered as a charity.

I don't know about individual staff payments, but AU$458k in annual revenue is a pretty healthy pile of cash for a group that adds literally nothing to society :/

I've contacted ACNC to express my doubts about Collective Shout's "charity" status. I mean, they're CLEARLY a lobby group? And this is a fair amount of money to not be paying taxes on:

Reset the "days without birth rate panic" counter again, I guess.

Not to be a nerd or anything, but no, 1723 was also a pretty bad year in terms of having a British Parliament controlled by rich landlords combined with a moral panic over black bloc and property damage by the lower classes. Yayyy I love when history does that whole repeating thing. /s

AO3 is back. Starting to think we might just survive the apocalypse after all.

Here's the ABC's map of how Melbourne and surrounding areas voted. A similar pattern is seen across Australia: metro areas with high Indigenous and immigrant populations overwhelmingly voted yes, while outer suburbs and regional areas usually voted no. [16]

Melbourne Activist Legal Support (MALS) have noted the increasing severity of police responses to protests and pickets in recent times, including increased use of OC spray, batons, horses and rubber bullets (the latter is still rare in the Australian context - though not unheard of). [10]

I recently gave a talk at QueerCon about the links between queerphobia and fascism, and how the former is a pretty reliable warning sign for the latter.

One really great question I was asked at the time was why Naarm/Melbourne is seemingly so effective (by global standards) in resisting fascism. 🧵

Last weekend, I was privileged to speak at Queer Con 2025, the inaugural queer health conference for Australian med students.

Having now spent the past ten years advocating against the medicalisation of asexuality, it really gives me hope to see the new generation of practitioners. 💜

Ok I'm done being sad, let's also get really mad and really active.

Any Australian medical folks here? If so: I've been invited to speak at Queer Con in a few weeks :) June 20-22, at Monash Clayton Woodside. Tickets are $50 for 3 days - get them here: amsa.org.au/calendar/que...

Come on Friday to see me quote Death Stranding and rant about birth rate moral panics.

I'll close with my favourite Frank Kameny quote, from the time he and his fellow activists stormed the APA conference, eventually leading to the declassification of homo/bisexuality from the DSM and ICD. The louder you yell it, the more powerful you feel.

"PSYCHIATRY IS THE ENEMY INCARNATE." /end

In May 1990, the WHO endorsed version 10 of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), which stated that "sexual orientation BY ITSELF is not to be regarded as a disorder".

It could still be regarded as a disorder if linked to anxiety, depression or relationship issues. #IDAHOBIT /1
