(1/3) A string of Northern CA counties have recently passed or called for emergency resolutions asking the state to give local sheriffs the power to kill wolves. These actions are concerning on many levels, + these counties continue to churn out misinformation (+ blatant lies) about wolves.

Our forests and other natural habitats need protection for many reasons. My family is glad to have The Nature Conservancy active in our area of the world providing wildlife diversity, healthy soils, clean water, and fresh air we can all enjoy.
You’re probably familiar with sources of emissions. But do you know what can reduce, remove and store them? Forests, wetlands, soil and grasslands are powerful natural climate solutions. Science-backed carbon markets can fund their protection, providing climate, biodiversity and community benefits.

Last year, NC received $25 million from the US Dept. of Transportation to build underpasses on Highway 64 - an announcement that was widely celebrated. Vehicle collisions are a leading threat to critically endangered Red Wolves, + underpasses are seen as a potential solution.
Less than 20 red wolves remain in the wild. We had a plan to save them.
Then Trump got in the way.
