Today (November 18), I almost missed Renée's birthday. And now she's having her cake.
She may be the only character of mine that has a canon birthday date, and there's a good reason: that's when I created the Procreate file where I sketched her for the first time some years ago.

Happy #WebcomicDay everyone! Some weeks ago I returned to comics with the premiere of #SheIsRenée, which follows a teenage artist trying to survive school, adolescence and life in general.

PANEL 1: In a sepia-toned scene at a café, Amparo (Renée's mother) talks to another woman. The last thing we read is Amparo saying "...and then she just left the room" while laughing. A small Renée looks intrigued and asks "Mom, what are you talking about?". PANEL 2: Amparo turns back at Renée and says: "Nothing, Renatita... You will understand when you grow up. Go play outside, right?". PANEL 3: 10 years later, a teenager Renée runs to her mom asking: "Mom! I was just remembering when I was a kid and you were talking with a friend and then you told me that I would understand when I grew up. Can you explain it now?" Her mom, still processing everything, just asks "What? When was it?". PANEL 4: Renee's mom just says "Oh, right. It was at the cafe... or was it at the mall? Gee, I forgot about it. Go play outside, right?". Renée is about to lose it.
