thanks for the shoutout ✌️✨

i'm also optimistic about AT protocol. I wouldn't have spent the last (almost) a year working on Northsky if not!

i believe this is done via Ozone, and yes, we will provide more context when appropriate.

and the "official" answers on stuff like this will always come from @transrights.northsky.social.

individual cooperative members don't speak for the whole collective. so collective decisions come from the main account after we hash things out internally.

we'll put a post out about that soon.

but for real, i've been doing research and a judge just this year (2025) realized the 1992 precedent that determines this needs to be re-visited, because its not actually what's being societally practiced as norms anywhere in Canada (and is open to abuse by conservative reactionaries)

joke answer: sounds fun as long as everyone is consenting!

serious answer: Canadian law says an individual cannot consent to someone else hurting them in a way that leaves damage (even welts/bruises etc...)

How people engage in Martial Arts and/or BDSM in Canada w/o being arrested is beyond me 😉

There's no profit in decentralization. They should have been a non-profit if they'd really wanted to stick to the mission and be a new internet backbone.

Now they have to thread the needle in a weird way, and also have the Trump admin breathing down their neck on this moderation stuff after CK.
October 10, 2025 at 12:51 AM
I don't think so. They've made it clear that they understood Bluesky PBC could become an enemy to their own decentralization efforts, and said as much in their docs.

I think they took VC money that forced them to behave more like a traditional centralized social media company, and that's it.
October 10, 2025 at 12:50 AM
that being said, i'm sure Blacksky will have theirs up soon, and Northsky has already begun work on ours as well due to the shift in Bluesky moderation strategy from PDS bans to Appview bans.
October 7, 2025 at 11:24 AM
not if you have the backend to the appview. unfortunately Blacksky hadn't set up that infra yet and was piggy-backing off of Bluesky's, that's why Link appeared banned on both.

unfortunately many of the appviews out there are actually just clients, and don't have the server architecture.
October 7, 2025 at 11:23 AM
to answer your question, once we have folks migrated to Northsky, and we have our own Appview and App running, this shouldn't be a problem.

but gonna look into it some more.

In light of the ongoing site crisis, there's been considerable attention recently to a new appview implementation by dollspace . gay (did:plc:dzvxvsiy3maw4iarpvizsj67)
