"Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury
it's been a bit busy, but glad to have this reread during October (and a bit of November). while some things have clearly aged, Bradbury's lurid descriptions are still ample fuel for the mind's eye. also, the audiobook for this was very nice!

my library growing up had playaway books, unfortunately not built into the book but it would be nice seeing them available as pairs to borrow

"We'll Prescribe You a Cat" by Syou Ishida
supremely heartfelt, this one showcases the impact that furry friends can have on us at all stages of life, how they can open us up to more than we thought ourselves capable of. a nice quick read to give yourself a smile

"The Disappearance of Adèle Bedeau" by Graeme Macrae Burnett
another book club selection! a very pessimistic depiction the world that, while engaging, leaves behind a hollow feeling. also, essentially only male characters have agency in this, so definitely showing its age

"Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil" by @deathbybadger.bsky.social
witty, evocative, and incredibly fulfilling, this book had me on the edge of my seat more than anything else recently. so good that it has revived an old habit of staying up too late on school nights to finish up a great book :)

"The Stepford Wives" by Ira Levin.
extremely digestible, this is an interesting experience in seeing how critiques of patriarchy have remained relevant for over 50 years now. another banger from the local book club
