And don’t get me wrong- I can’t stand Adobe, but I have other reasons. I don’t like them at all - pdf files can be hard to work with- especially if you need to edit them.

I just feel for the people left working in Federal Government- this current administration seems so clueless about how actual goals are set and met and the people who actually perform the work.

You have to apply security to the document- Adobe Acrobat allows fine tuning of security- you can even prevent a document from being printed with Adobe.

Adobe Acrobat Pro version, has a redaction function - you mark up whatever you want redacted according to specifications, check it over, apply redaction then save the file. A person has to read the document to find what needs redaction and select/mark the phrase/name/detail

I’m guessing you could write a script to auto-redact SSN because of its format and whatever rules there are about generating the numbers- but how many different names of victims are they searching for and all the other specific items/phrases/names are they redacting?

I think they have asked clerical workers to do the actual redacting. It’s not automatic- there’s thousands of pages.
How quickly and accurately do you suppose you could redact that mountain of files?
