That is correct Mam. But it was limited to part of the population, and you could say same about JFK and the early days of the civil rights movement (although JFK was really more focused internationally, hence the space program).Medicare affected the entire population as FDR's SSA did.

FDR died about 16 months later. Any further social progress would have to wait till LBJ (Medicare), 1965, 21 years later (!).

Did not go through Congress in the 2/3 of a war (1944). Japan and Germany were still undefeated, priorities were international, not domestic. Good try though.
