Hope it ends before I do (doubtful). It is not the US I moved to in the 80s (in hindsight a poor choice). I personally knew the "greatest generation" (as well as their German opponents). Here me and B17 captain/pilot George Krois (1981, long ago). I don't know what went wrong, but it did go wrong

"White Rose" was a non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany, and their symbol is a white rose, often accompanied by the phrase "We will not be silent". The group, primarily composed of students at the University of Munich, used this symbol to call for resistance against the Nazi regime

Based in Chicago, but 2xextended stays (like 2+ months) in Lake Charles. It was for the cryo pipe stuff (my design, btw, never went off the ground commercially, but 2 or 3 patents)

All I know about my maternal grandfather was that he was murdered probably by Soviets late 44 or 45, location unknown (probably Hesselsdorf),no grave.
Declared dead by court.
