is my "more essentialism is good" take (because this is not even the problem anybody worth reading within critical theory or decolonial theory really attacks)

Yeah but then you open yourself up to canonical questions regarding what Weber meant, how essentialist that sort of abstraction is, etc.When in reality we are arguing about what history and peoplehood are, which are like fundamental questions concerning time and existence (co-naissance/mitsein) etc.

And even for the scholars therein who recognize this point, the discipline basically forecloses anybody doing that kind of philosophical work out of fear surrounding "essentialism."
