As a teenage Apple fanboy, I idolized Jony Ive. I wanted to be him when I grew up, and a part of me still does.

My guess: ChatGPT voice mode abilities + Alexa-like behavior (wake word to activate, ability to handle context-dependent tasks like Apple said new Siri would do) in a Tamagotchi-sized form factor that looks like unmistakably like a Jony Ive design.

Just maybe not unapologetically plastic this time.

In the long-awaited summary judgment decision in Thomson Reuters & West v. Ross Intelligence, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware has held that Ross Intelligence’s use of Thomson Reuters’ copyrighted Westlaw headnotes to train its AI legal research tool was not fair use.

Generally that would be okay because the majority of the final product was human-created. Similar concept to using auto-tune or Photoshop. The tech is a tool but not the original source for the final work. But it's a very fuzzy standard, and "AI" still spooks people more than other tech
