While the wife watches Harry Potter, I’m cracking on with this. Man alive those first 50 pages are intense.

Started playing with format for a new short story. Kind of a fun exercise in finding alternative ways to invoke fear.

I used to be such a fan of Neal Asher. He was my favourite author for a long time. But, alas, he’s become yet another author that’s picked a hill to die on I find disappointing and disagreeable.

Do better Neal.

Adolescence on Netflix. It’s probably one of the most emotionally devastating pieces of TV in recent memory. It’s honestly perfect: one of those rare achievements where everything works so well you forget you’re watching tv. It’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

Andrew Tate really is one of the most deeply insecure men to have walked this earth. I’d pity him is he wasn’t, you know, a giant asshole.

So, just finished The Laws of the Skies. What a truly, deeply nasty and upsetting book. It has an ending that is one of the most horrifying things I’ve ever read. Literally made me feel dizzy.

Heard a woman calling her toddler a wee toe-rag, and now I feel it’s the perfect title for a Scottish set folk horror.
