Train disruptions in Singapore since 1st July. It's a low low low benchmark, I know, but I am glad that it's nowhere near as bad as #DeutscheBahn

The recent brouhaha in the OverEmployment subreddit. Is that a US phenomenon? I don't get it. Why do people do it? Purely for the quick bucks? There's no way that's even possible in Singapore. We can hardly survive the one job we have 😅

Hawker centres are the great equalizer. MD or mechanic; Bungalow or HDB dwellers —doesn't matter. Same queue, same sweat, same plastic chairs, same types of utensils. #Singapore 🇸🇬

Honest reflection from a CEO. Even a CEO could be replaced by AI. Four "Rs": We gotta stay Reinvent to stay Relevant, remain Resilient and Responsible in our day-to-day activities.

Spent the last few weeks in China learning about new media. Boy, their digital marketing is lightyears ahead of Singapore. Liveselling is not just a gimmick. it's an important sales channel that even premiun brands such as SK-II are on it. It's an eye-opener!

The AI paradox: While AI assistants disintermediate direct relationships, they still depend on human-generated trust signals - reviews, purchase patterns, and loyalty behaviours - to make recommendations. 🧵

I had a fanboy moment when Snowden came on.

A memorable quote:

"Popularity is a reflection of the average of society. But conformity doesn't bring forth innovation. You need to celebrate deviation. Because when you deviate from the mean, that's when progression can take place."

1. Mandating RTO mindlessly is senseless. It *is* a form of quiet layoffs.

2. Working moms have it harder. It doesn't matter which country this is happening in. Society still expects women to care for kids more.

I was knackered beyond belief from the event. But receiving a thoughtful message like this makes the effort all worthwhile.

I deleted my FB and IG account years ago. Recently I had to create a new IG account for work. I was surprised to find that OF content creators are promoting themselves on IG. Every other "suggested reels" are that of half-naked ladies. That makes scrolling IG for work or next to my wife, dangerous.

First time getting an orange juice from these ubiquitous vending machines. At $2 for a freshly-squeezed orange juice, that's a good deal. I wish there are more of such rather than bubble tea shops that mushroom up at every corner.

I hope such stern corrective action catches on in Singapore, too. There are too many service providers that deliberately make it difficult for customers to terminate their service, for e.g. Singtel forces the customers to return the TV box in person at their service centre.
