Example: people sometimes accept that the construct of gender can be change, but still reify the existence of an unchanging sex. I think people adopting transsexual view it as worthwhile to argue that sex is also changeable. even if on some level we know both systems are the same (and fake(kinda)).

Taking one’s name or changing one’s clothing vs changing one’s genitals or hormones are all arbitrary, but the world we currently exist in views them as substantially different.

This feels odd to me. Humans have only existed for such a short time, and we have seen such change and evolution already, have we not?
Humanity is not evil or good. It isn’t one coherent thing, even. The whole of all people are certainly not evil, I wouldn’t say.

I wouldn’t even say that suicide does logically follow from nihilism. In a sense absurdists *agree* with the premise of nihilism, they just have a different reaction.

My critique is mostly that the book doesn’t actually explore much into the origins and context of transmisogyny despite coining the term. I also don’t like Serano’s attempts to explain transness as biological or”born this way” stuff.
