This reminds me of people using the term “pillow princess“ who are not lesbians. There are people who use this term in its original way and in its original community, but there are also random non-lesbians who absorbed the new popular definition with no knowledge of the term in its origins.
I think that the issue is that the term has come to mean “all trans women“ then “passing straight trans women” and then least commonly it’s original genesis and when that’s whats in the conversation people like Abi are only going to engage with the first or second and just mention the third concept.
