Or did you just like the way my name caresses your tongue, how my hips answered your pull, the way I slipped so easily into whatever shape you asked of me? A comforting voice, a body that yielded— yours, you liked to say. Tender, familiar, easy. What might’ve been victory had your eyes ever learned to see how easily soft hearts bruise and the strange flowers loneliness blooms. So tell me now: Was it ever love, or just possession masquerading as affection?

I Wish I Could Hate You I wish I could hate you— it would be cleaner than remembering how you looked at me when you said mine. You took me like a vow, bent me with purpose, made me need what you were never brave enough to hold. You pretended to claim me— and I pretended you meant it. Now I burn for you with nothing to show but the ache you left behind.

What I Saw I saw a path where none had grown, A world we built, not one we'd known. You stood so still, so full of doubt-I reached for you, but you pulled out. I dreamed a sky that let us fly, You only feared we'd fall and die. But love, real love, dares sharp terrain, It walks through fire, it bears the strain. I wasn't blind, I saw the cracks, The heavy weight upon our backs. Still, I believed we'd find the thread, And stitch a life with hope instead. You called it foolish, wild, untrue, But hearts like mine imagine through. Where others yield, I still press on-Not out of fear, but hope hard-won. You couldn't see the light I made, Too used to living in the shade. But oh, I would have shared it all, If you'd just answered when I called.
