I think you all need some lovely PNW fall photos to celebrate making it to Friday.
A beautiful large leaf beginning to turn from a dark evergreen into a bright golden yellow at the edges. It has a texture to it, looking like a babies blanket from the 80’s and 90’s with all the thick padding. An incredibly large colony of tiny mushrooms popping up out of some bark chips near a road. No clue type or edibility, but I’m really enjoying them on my morning walks. 10/10 for bounce back when you tap the caps. A leafy tree showing off some incredible foliage with bright oranges, red, deep maroon, and some green leaves as well. A stunning autumn color palate. I want to eat it, it’s so pretty.

I’m out in the foothills, and the smoke has been settling over like a weird fog but the AQI says we’re okay-ish. I feel terrible for the eastern side, seeing numbers in the 200+ range in some areas 😔

The sunrises and sunsets have gotten eerie out in the foothills.

Every resistance has a flower.
I saw a recommendation on TikTok about Yarrow, (symbolizing resilience ❤️) but the flower is most commonly white in the images I found and that feels absolutely incorrect with the supremacy everywhere.

I’d like to propose another option: the Thistle.

They get big fast when they are happy! Bravo! I actually used a trellis instead of a pole as mine got bigger so it could still spread a bit. I use Velcro to give it support. Mine is about 4 years old, and she’s over 6ft tall at this point!

Added more plants to Mocha’s home, and she seems to like her new Polka Dot plant.

Also, she’s for sure part dragon and all dinosaur.

I guess it’s that time of year - solidarity in stress and anxiety I guess?? This pipe did this a few years ago as well, despite winterizing attempts, it said haha TOO BAD.

#birds are silly, and so many are bafflingly scared of everything around them. The Pine Siskens are the bullies of the yard and pick on the bigger birds who freak out. It’s like watching a chihuahua scare off a Great Dane 😂

In an attempt to NOT dwell on the horrors…
I have reached the age of not just watching birds, but naming visitors. We see a lot of redwing blackbirds and one has AMAZINGLY bright and large wing spots. He’s been dubbed Shoulder Pads. I’d show a photo but he’s SO skittish! So instead, enjoy a Flicker

The clouds looked like squished marshmallows last night. Moon had a pretty rainbow of colors around it too.
