i discovered it myself actually! I'm a big fan of Unreal Gold. It's simple enough to find, and then I actually opened the map editor to check it out and sure enough i was there.
It's in the second part of the village level, you can dodge against the barricade to go in the unloaded area

In Unreal Return To Na Pa Li on the second part of the village map you can dodge against a wall to enter an unloaded area. In place of a lake there is a big pit you are no supposed to enter. At the bottom of the pit, a lone, idle NPC with 10 knives planted in its back.
