I put out a heated cat shelter for OBC and I can’t swear to it, but I think she’s using it. This is her. She hasn’t quite made up her mind, but I am pretty sure she’s well on her way to joining the family.

I pulled the battery this morning. It’s in very bad shape, having warped its frame and every cell is “pillowed.” This battery was installed in late 2018 and the laptop got heavy use until 2025. Since it spent most of those years being a desktop replacement, it spent lots of time plugged in.

This is my cat Daemir (Elvish for "pool of shadows") sleeping off the stress of a shift movers who had been packing up my main bath and bedroom for flood remediation had finished for the day.

Daemir - my black cat - came to me because someone here in Vegas found a stray kitten and couldn't keep her. I was in a bad headspace, but this creature needed a home. I told the rescuer to bring her over, and if the cat was happy, they could stay. Daemir is fiercely my cat.

I need to post more photos of my cat. This is semi-recent. This is Daemir. Daemir is a word I cobbled together from the language reference at the back of JRRT's "The Silmarillion" and it roughly means "pool or jewel of shadow."
