End of a busy week. Finished up the Plot2Plate community garden project, helped St David's Secondary school do a Big Beach Clean and attended a vigil for Gaza.

Do you feel safe sea swimming after a sewage leak?

At the moment tests are only done during the bathing season.I asked the Council to review their policy and test sea water after a sewage overflow.

If the Council hasn't the resources, maybe citizen scientists need to step in? 🤔

Fantastic Harvest Festival today, brought by residents of Hawkins Wood and Aldborough. A true community event and was my pleasure to open the festivities!

What a super day of free classes at the Marina. 😍
From yoga to zumba to face yoga... something for everyone.
I love community events like this where people get to check out what's going on in the area and all for FREE.

Well done @greystoneswellnesshub 😃. Excited to see what happens next!

Speaking to Newstalk this week about the chaos at our beaches when the sun shines. It's the same year in year out and yet the NTA don't take any action.
An easy, quick solution would be shuttle buses from towns to the beaches, making the journey a lot more pleasant.

We all saw the overflowing bins at the weekend....not pleasant!

The good news is that I have secured extra bins for key locations over the rest of the summer. So hopefully this will help

Big thanks due to the Council who had this cleared quickly this morning.

Thrilled to be elected as Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District with Cllr Mark Barry as Leas Cathaoirleach. Thanks to Cllt Fortune who held the chains of office for the past 12 months. Looking forward to working with community groups, especially young people, across the area.

Awards presentation at the Sporting Greystones FC mini World Cup 😍
What an amazing community event this morning. ⚽️
The medals and trophies were a bonus, but the real winners were all the Sporting Greystones Community.

Thanks to Wicklow Times for reporting my thoughts on the lack of public transport from Bray, Greystones and surrounding towns to Dublin Airport.

Still no direct airport link for North Wicklow.

🚫 NTA won’t meet with Councillors
🚫 Kilmacanogue stop not accessible
This is a public transport failure affecting 60,000+ people in the area. I’ll continue to push the NTA for a proper solution.

👇CLIFF WALK UPDATE👇Consultants due to be appointed by the end of this month/early May. Once this is done we can start to get information on short term solutions ( if any are feasible) to reopen the cliff path. This will be along with as more complex longer term solutions. This is welcome progress.

The planned cancellation of the Aircoach service from Greystones and Bray is simply unacceptable in my view. We are poorly enough serviced by public transport as it is. I've written to the NTA to express my concerns and re iterated the need for a meeting with local representatives.
February 20, 2025 at 10:10 AM
I can't figure out why the L3 terminus is placed here. I have reported to the NTA and also raised at Council meeting. I have been told that it is being looked at.
I have also asked that the NTA meet with Councillors ASAP.
I'll keep you posted with any more updates.

Thank you to @Stdavidsholyfaithgreystones for inviting myself and Lianne, Biodiversity Officer with Clean Coasts, for a workshop with their students. I shared about all the litter we've collected and the importance of minding our beaches and marine environment. Every day is a learning day!
