A satisfying loop I found of me hosting at the last @overlapsocial.com. I feel very conscious of how self indulgent this can seem, but if it helps cheerlead the animation industry I can fool myself that it's not about ego stroking.

Listen to the Flower Person. Rushed in a good way. Wanted the acrylic to interact like oils to worked quick and thick. Used red behind the gold to simulate the red stuff people used to use to glue down gold leaf.

Rev. Lionbar Tidbits. (Cat fluff, Fairy Liquid bottle tops, brass push pin, bobble, marigold gloves). Mucking about on the iPad made me realise I could do with some stronger pigments. Remembering the importance of little pencil colour sketches for planning. Also learning to use the under painting

Here's the VFX breakdown. The still clouds were created by drawing several layers in the shapes that I needed. Photoshop's generative tool turned those into photorealistic looking clouds. They were animated using stuff like blur, warp and turbulent displacements. louishudson.co.uk/portfolio/bb...

About a year ago, I animated some scenes for Funboys.
In the end I handled most of the elements. I storyboarded it to help technical supervise filming. I did the designs, animation,FX and compositing, which wouldn't;t be ideal on a larger project, but for this it simplified marrying the elements.

Another little thing I did this year for BRB. Transforming Cinderella between two costumes. I've done this before with magical razzle dazzle to hide the joins. I miss the razzle dazzle, but it works.

I also did a touch of FX consulting and blue screen compositing on the ad.

As usual it was a quick turnaround, so I opted to roto manipulated stock footage of a skier. Some simple but satisfying parallax in the background finished off with some snow dust in Photoshop.

Did a nice little job this year for Montblanc's Christmas advert. I created this moving vintage poster that connected the flow of the adjoining shots. Luxury pens one and all!
