BTW Possums are an invasive species in New Zealand and are not protected as they kill the native birds, you are allowed to hunt and trap them but they must be killed humanely.

I am reminded of a fund raiser held by a school in New Zealand that decided to hold a possum tossing contest. The possums were at least dead, but the organisers were clueless at how the whole thing would look and sound to a lot of people.
