This is my book, HUNGRY BONES. It’s a Chinese American hungry ghost story. Get it at your fave indie bookshop, your local library, or check out the link in my bio. Don’t forget to feed your hungry ghosts!
NYC bingo square unlocked: having a difficult moment, saw my neighbor in line at the grocery store, asked “how are you?” she asks the same, I burst out crying. Checkout person & neighbor are kind but wide eyed — this is NOT our relationship. She scurries off. I’m now crying for 2 reasons. Bingo!

Ya know, just sitting in a Lyft thinking about Charlotte’s Web and crying.

Was in the town of Lexington, NC over the weekend & of course had to find the local bookstore. This big city gal (a little unsure in a small, traditional, southern town) was delighted by Pig City Books off Main St. "We want everyone to feel welcome here!" exclaimed the owner and her titles show it.

The time I went up to a person after a show and gave them a heartfelt THANK YOU for coming. I realized part way thru my THANK YOU that I didn’t know them. Total stranger. They were so nice but so confused.

This interaction haunts me.

Found a typo on the BK bridge. As @allisoncmeier.bsky.social pointed out, it was a nice glimpse of humanity on this modern marvel

A friend was telling me how she sometimes uses her blender in her bedroom with the door closed so she doesn’t bother her sleeping kid. “Oh yeah, I do that too so I don’t scare my cat.” She laughed at my…joke.

Ok that’s not true. I don’t go to my bedroom 😂

I go to my bathroom.

This is your push to get that recipe or savor that dish that nourishes your whole being & smoothes the corners when you’re feeling ragged. The food that is memory. Learn how to make it, dissect every bite, memorize the flavors. Never having that taste again is glorious, aching grief.

I miss the days when the Queen Mary episode of Unsolved Mysteries was the scary thing that kept me up at night

Writing a book is fun because it's a puzzle that only you can solve, but also something you can rant and rave about, but also a completely terrifying thing that will totally work out, honest.

Note to those requesting entrance to my home (super, handy folks, building manager): If you ring the bell repeatedly & pound aggressively on the door while shouting “Are you home!?” I won’t be promptly answering the door. I’ll be silent & paralyzed clutching a cat wondering if you can hear me blink

Kind of preferred it when we were blaming disasters on Mothman instead of DEI hires.

Don’t get a haircut today, don’t clean your home - it’s bad luck! Just appreciate your hairy, messy self and let your Snake Powers grow for the year to come
