The hallmark of true commitment to safeguarding is the ability to listen objectively to a disclosure about someone you like or are reputationally connected to and not seek to silence the person who is reporting the allegation. This is the price of a safer church.

Listening is the gift which helps others rediscover their voice. Really listening to someone and accompanying them is an act of restorative justice.
