Like in the main story, Ranked has you start at rank Z and climb to A. When playing private link battles, you can adjust battle rules and battle up to three other players. Crossplay across Switch 1 and 2 supported.

Rogue boss fight highlights:
➤ Wild Pokémon can damage player like in PLA; player's health is represented by vignetting
➤ Markers under foe's HP bar track buffs and debuffs
➤ Absol's Dark Pulse is an AoE attack and fills the floor with damaging bad vibes
➤ Protect is a timed real-time shield

Some Pokémon Legends Z-A story details: the player, Emma, and Team MZ are investigating Rogue Megas. On AZ's suggestion, Team MZ is participating in the Z-A Royale to dig deeper into a “certain company” (Quasartico) they know is collecting data on Rogue Pokémon.

Here's Pokémon Legends Z-A's party screen. Your Pokémon's size is shared on its profile! Your starter, for instance, comes at a medium/average size. The game doesn't have abilities, but held items and natures do return.
