If anything I feel like my rain guage on my weather station is under reporting the amount of rain we've gotten so far.

Definitely not. The boss lady here probably has a lot of amazing stories to tell from her previous workplace guarding livestock.

He's got a touch of brindle. His other half of his body is just fawn so he's a split brindle. And he's an unrepentant goofster.

This may look like beef but these are pork shoulder blade steaks from pastured pigs I raised on my farm. They are similar to a ribeye and apparently significantly cheaper than the ribeye wherever you are.

There's nothing quite like eating your own home grown and raised stuff. These are blade steaks from our own pastured pigs.

Getting to love on these cute little piggies is always a good day. ❤️

I found him!

We had a quite large mantis volunteer hanging out at our greenhouse the other day.

Best way to deal with predators is deterrence with these guys. They bark and mark and tell the predators to go find somewhere easier to hunt and it works the vast majority of the time. Neither the wolves nor the LGDs want to risk an encounter with one another usually. I wish ranchers used them more.

We're up to 4 of our Khaki Campbell girls laying eggs right now. Not pictured are our drakes Petey and Sir Reginald Quackinsworth. (Petey picked his own name /shrug)

Everyone needs to see a piglet trying to eat a rock. Thankfully no rocks or piglets were harmed.

My favorite pig Milly who was born and raised on our farm here last year had her first litter yesterday morning. She is such a proud momma and a very good one too. She had 7 beautiful babies, 6 of them girls. She let me handle them for sexing and weighing.

Our sweet boar Casper is so chill that he has his own personal bird buddy. He's the only animal on our farm that has one. I think it might be a brown headed cow-bird but I'm not certain.

Me too! It'll be her first time and despite my best efforts keeping her food cut back she is still chonking up quite a bit which raises the chances of a piglet getting stuck and assistance being required. She's my favorite girl, raised her from the day she was born.

A local brewer stopped by to offer us some spent brewer's grain (barley) yesterday! We have some happy critters right now between the chickens and the pigs. The goats are divas and won't touch it.

The last 5 months have felt like a year, it's exhausting. It's the little things that bring hope, or a smile these days. Like some intrepid bird making a nest in the potted fig in my greenhouse. Was bird away while I was watering? Will bird be back? Or is the nest abandoned like the constitution?

Here, it sounds like you need a dose of sleepy piglets to brighten you day.
