Aka Katie M., a library worker in southeast Wisconsin who is in her 40s. Brain surgery cracked my life back open, not just my skull. Icon is of a Hubble Kaleidoscope, from an old article in The Onion.

It must feel so fucking good to be a cat in full loaf mode and tuck your little paws underneath yourself. That’s it, that’s all I have to say.

Was curious if my local theater is showing Babygirl. It is. With screenings at 9:05am on any day for the rest of this week, if that's when I wanted to go. Would those screenings be more sparsely attended, or would they just draw old ladies?

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

I’m actually usually not that anxious unless I’m around other people or alone with my own thoughts, other than that I’m literally so chill

Now that I'm actually active on Bluesky compared to when I first joined, it's certainly not helping me reduce my ridiculous number of open tabs.

Man, I really loathe already introducing his face into my posts, but... isn't he supposed to be pushing "47" stuff now?
You gotta hand it to him -- Trump is unsurpassed in the grifting department

It should be okay to put non-traditional things on your resume. Read a Stephen King book in one sitting? Tenacious. Once solved an episode of Monk by the second commercial break? Critical thinking skills. Oh you still play Wordle every single day? So. Task. Oriented.

Just noticed that Heather Cox Richardson lists "Budding Curmudgeon" in her bio on here. Why yes, I am likely one of those, too.

Just because things are bad
Does not mean we should let them get worse
Just because things may get worse
Does not mean we can not make things better
But things will only get better
If we don't resign ourselves to worse
And fight for another tomorrow

I have an MRI in a week. Just had the thought that I should request listening to Underworld this time... as I'm listening to "Beautiful Burnout." (Over the course of my nine MRIs last year, I requested Max Richter, then Depeche Mode, then Tim Hecker.)

Today was the first day I logged into Twitter and saw the list of so-called "interests" listed in my ad settings. Whoa boy, it was such a bizarre list. I'm unchecking everything except David Lynch, experimental music, IKEA, libraries, Mark Ruffalo, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, St. Vincent, and Twin Peaks.

Just had a squirrel crawl around on the screen of the living room window across from me (yes, this means it was hanging vertically) while carrying a bigass walnut in its mouth. Not something I see everyday. Sign of what the rest of my day will be like?

I created my BlueSky account on Christmas Day last year? Okay. Today's one of the very few times I've logged in since then, and I certainly didn't remember what my password was.

Just another Twitter refugee. Not that I posted much on Twitter, so we'll see if I really post much here.
