Pleased to bring students to Europe once again. In summer 2026 we'll study Food and Drink Cultures. The Netherlands, Belgium, France, England. Eat well, drink well, travel well. Cheers!

Just wrapped a June-August trip to Europe. Attached map shows how
useful the Eurail pass was. The many additional bus and walking journeys aren’t shown.

In London and had already seen everything that interested me at the theatre, so after a 10-year gap I saw Les Mis, because of course I did. Coming off three weeks in France, I was secretly cheering for the Monarchy to endure. Alas, not to be.

I wonder if, in the United States, on my shelf, this is the only bottle of Geuze Devillé from Den Herberg in Halle, Belgium.

I'll soon be back in the Low Countries and drinking gueuze of all kinds.

Reminds me of a drive-in movie advert character. Maybe put some foam in place of hair on top?

For those who care deeply about these things, just a reminder that today, 5 June, is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Danke Shane.

Emperor of Mexico, if you can even imagine the audacity of that dream! What a rich historical tale that turned out to be. I lived in Mexico City for a few years and the impact of his ambition continued to reverberate 100+ years later.

I remember as a kid Little Kings Cream Ale stubbies were major radio sponsors of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Later, some of my underaged friends drank these in high school.
