What is everyone reading this weekend? 📚 I’m reading “The Small and the Mighty” - powerful stories for this moment in history.

When a student responds to an open-ended question, we then have the opportunity to "step it up" or "step it down" by providing challenge or providing support. Great takeaways for teachers from Tricia Zucker & Sonia Cabell's work! 💬 More in this article: files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED6... #EduSky

I highly recommend “Shirley Chisholm In Her Own Words” - it is a collection of Shirley’s speeches and writings - just phenomenal.

A great thread. To learn more about Gordon Parks’ remarkable work, I highly recommend Gordon Parks: How the Photographer Captured Black and White America by Carole Boston Weatherford & Jamey Christoph. A stunning read for K-12 learners! #kidlit #picturebook

I’m on year seven of writing in a journal every night to document the things I’ve done that day. My grandmother did the same thing in the 1940s. It helps me feel connected to her ❤️

What a great topic! I had the honor of starting my teaching career in the same school where I had been a K-4 student. I got to work alongside my former teachers - all of whom had inspired a love of story for me and my peers. Here I am with my fourth grade teacher in 2003 and 2019! #kidlitchat

Kindergarten teachers: What are your favorite meaningful literacy center ideas? Looking to collect more ideas for our K teachers. #EduSky (Here, students play hopscotch with words they’ve orthographically mapped, then go fishing for the words at another center!)

A1: Padlet (@padlet.bsky.social) is always a go-to! Last year we used it to house text sets connected to our elementary science and social studies units. Padlet is always such an easy way to capture links, images, and content - and the comments feature allows for meaningful engagement! #EduSkyChat

I've been extremely fortunate to live within walking distance of a library for my entire life. My hometown library in Massachusetts & my current library in Brooklyn are places of connection, possibility, and community. I'm thinking a lot about how to support & advocate for these important spaces. 📚
