I teach on Labor Day, but my kids are off, so it's take-your-kid-to-work day, which is my favorite, because my kid always makes up a joke to share with the class.

It's a week of exams for seniors here, and I love the encouraging notes they've written for each other in every classroom I've proctored in today--"You're great!" "You rule!" "You've got this!" "You rock!!!" "You're prepared"

My editing at this stage is getting close to done! Next month I send it to the book manuscript workshop members!

Bluesky academics, lets get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren’t working on but keep thinking about

1) communities of care with people with disabilities

2) anger and politics

I'm late to reading my midterm class evaluations. This one--anonymous--made my day. I have very nice students.

It's picture day at my all-male college, and I love that the school provides blazers for those who need them.

Taking my kid to class is the best! (It's play-doh.)

"I may be a wage slave on Monday, but I'm a free man on Sunday." We listened to Ewan MacColl in my political theory class today and talked about the right to roam.

Looking through a tenure dossier and delighted to learn that at least one US university requires of its faculty "40% instruction, 40% reseach, and 40% service". And people say standards are slipping.

#writing from the side of the road, waiting for a tow truck (it was nice to have a distraction--and we ultimately made it home safe and sound, though later than we would have liked)

At Trump's recent RNC speech, he said, "They’re coming from prisons. They’re coming from jails. They’re coming from mental institutions and insane asylums. I, you know the press is always on because I say this." 1/?

More political theory in the wild: In Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning, the Swedish room has tongue-in-cheek murals--this one shows Justice not blindfolded, but using her handkerchief to hold her scales.
