I teach on Labor Day, but my kids are off, so it's take-your-kid-to-work day, which is my favorite, because my kid always makes up a joke to share with the class.

I was reading my grandmother's journal of a trip she took to the UK in 1987. The cost of hotels amazed me--as low as 7.50 or 10 pounds a night!

Duty free in the airport at 8 am--being forced through loud music, strong perfumes, disco lights, and sales people planting themselves in the path--is just so much sensory overload. I'm not sure what the escape lounge is, but I need it
