Because the ones who specify the rules rarely experiences their implementation

I wonder if legislators ever had to run business, the amount of stupid bureaucracy is baffling

As other as said, it's a trade off, you get browser patched for free, smaller bundles and better performance, but each platform has it's quirks

AFAIK web render on Linux may give you a lot of headaches with Tauri for example

Not inappropriate, but I'm gonna update this soon, things seems promising

Jokes aside, now I would really like that public transport stuff was OSS, I would have used the train travel time to improve the booking UX

This also incentivise to AT Proto all the things, the single identity will be easier to transfer

The coolest thing would be to disintermediate the single company

Maybe with a sort of grop that decide collectively when to unlock their half of the keys

Like, Alice designated Bob as her successor and told to her group (composed by others) to trust Bob

That's the quickest solution I can think of

Unexpectedly, I think Apple almost nailed it, if you use your stuff you can designate a successor, give them half a key and the other half to Apple

Once the proverbial bus struck, the successor can go to Apple with the documents and unlock everything

Forgive me Mattarella, but I do it too

Smaller pot is easier to wash, I hate to hand wash stuff and I don't have a dishwasher

Perhaps FOSS devs should engage more with designers and designers should look into FOSS as devs do.

I can see why devs want to do open source, but what's the designer incentive?
How can we attract more product people into the FOSS world?

Mainmatter has posted a while ago about the custom renders initiative, Lynx requires them in order to work properly

I mean, is there something built in the protocol like an HTTP 402?
Should be something that each appview should implement?

Perhaps the first draft should store those data inside a specific lexicon?
Does a single storage quota need to be shared across apps? Or each should have its storage quota?
February 10, 2026 at 1:08 PM
You got me thinking about building a PDS hosting service on top of some serverless platform, like cloudflare, giving users choices like the region, but a question keeps popping up.

What should the service do when the storage quota is met or there are too many payments pending?

Just realised that by putting Tailscale too she just a got a 24/7 support wherever I'm gonna be in the world

Maybe a bit overkill for some light browsing and her puzzles evenings 😝
