Oh but they clearly don't stand behind their comments so wholeheartedly anymore because, as @fistfulofcrits.bsky.social just pointed out to me, they've deleted them. Every single one. And their page.

If you have to resort to petty accusations and insults with no factual basis, you aren’t winning the argument.

An update on this. It’s really important. Still no word from UKGE but more people are commenting and I’m seeing that comments are still being hidden.

What’s more, the creator is firing back with a lot of nonsense. 🙃

Had a truly excellent time at last night’s @soulmuppet.co.uk and @moonshineadventure.bsky.social launch event for DOOMSPIRAL!

Saw good friends, and played an excellent game. If you’re a fan of Dark Souls or Elden Ring, then this TTRPG is for you!

What are you currently RESEARCHING for projects you are working on? I've a few things on the go and here's some of mine:

- Scary mountain stories ⛰️
- Lyrebird mimicry & Peacock tail feathers 🦚
- The 1381 Peasant's Revolt 👑
- Wolf folklore/mythology (for more than one project...) 🐺

Look at this absolutely gorgeous rendition of one of my favourite books, ‘The Secret Garden’!

Such a wonderful story with that gorgeous mixture of melancholy gothic atmosphere, childhood curiosity, and fairy tale whimsy. I adore it ⛲️🪴🤫

Can’t wait to re-read for research into a future project… 👀

I'm a little late to the party, but let's do this!

Posting this before I see something in it that I hate, and delete it.

Now Playing:
Out Tonight - RENT 🎶

6. The Penelopiad - Margaret Atwood

Well, I'm a sucker for a greek myth retelling, and this one just REALLY did it for me. It has a very punchy wit to it, and highlights often forgotten perspectives in Odysseus's famed journey - Penelope, and her maids. I enjoyed it immensely!

5. The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet - Becky Chambers

My favourite sci-fi book I've read. There are so many wonderful stories about space crew adventures. This one captures 'found family' perfectly, and truly reflects how complex their relationships, motivations, and differences would be.
July 31, 2025 at 2:34 PM
4. Girl, Woman, Other - Bernadine Evaristo

Read this with a book club - it explores feminism, privilege, race, and queerness succinctly. At times it's a hard and messy read. There are twelve voices, weaving in and out of each other, and their differences are as important as the common ground.

Spending my morning with some tea, listening to Laufey, and having cuddles with Callie. What a perfect start to two days off 💛
July 30, 2025 at 9:08 AM
3. My Sister, The Serial Killer - Oyinkan Braithwaite

Dark comedy-slasher, with plenty of satire. One sister is sensible, and overlooked. The other is frivolous, adored, and many of her boyfriends wind up dead. What follows is a tale of resentment, sibling dependancy, and what family really means.
July 27, 2025 at 12:02 PM
2. The Bloody Chamber & Other Stories - Angela Carter

More gothic horror of course, but this one is a set of short stories that reimagines some already dark fairy tales through an even darker, feminist, and erotic lens. Favourites include 'The Bloody Chamber' and 'The Lady Of The House Of Love'.
July 27, 2025 at 12:02 PM
1. The Corset - Laura Purcell

Gothic horror about two women who become friends - one a charitable phrenologist, and the other a seamstress and accused murderer, who believes she can imbue emotion into the garments she creates. I've yet to read a book of Purcell's I don't love!

Please give Millie some virtual fuss, adoration, and worship on the anniversary of her gotcha day, she's a fifteen year old princess who likes to be pampered 💛

Millie responds in kind!

Working on something FUN with @ap-cartography.bsky.social (an excellent cartographer that you should ALL be following). Keep your eyes peeled for something whimsical with a splash of cosy horror in there 👀

Welcome to Fablewood...

The post UKGE feels (and exhaustion) are HITTING, so I thought I'd post my very late #ukge2025 haul. I'll do my best to tag as many creators as possible!

Honestly? I think I was pretty darned restrained!
