Wife, mother, elementary school librarian, late bloomer, incessant consumer of knowledge.
My dad is autistic, my full blooded brother is autistic, both of my children are autistic, their bio dad is autistic, my niece and nephew are autistic, and just two weeks ago my half sister, their mom, was saying she’s pretty certain she’s autistic. Tell me again how it’s Tylenol and vaccines??

I’m so frustrated by the lack of options for classroom management (esp in specials that see kids 30min/week) that don’t involve bribery. Or pitting kids against each other in “challenges”. These approaches feel wrong. Aren’t we supposed to be building empathy & cooperation & intrinsic motivation??

WHY DOES EVERY MALE LOVE INTEREST IN EVERY FANTASY BOOK MAGICALLY SMELL LIKE CINNAMON ALL THE TIME??! Like, that’s not what men smell like! And the women…😫As if I needed one more thing to be insecure about, I have to worry that I don’t smell like fucking mint and flowers 24/7🤦‍♀️

I received my sticker order from Karen a few days ago and am totally in love, her work is SO GORGEOUS! She also included 2 sticker freebies including one w/a girl and a fox, and foxes are my daughter’s current obsession so she was ecstatic. Thank you Karen!🫶

Highly do not recommend The Birds as the 1st Hitchcock film to show your teens. Wtf did we just watch. I’m all “Hitchcock is a film icon & legend we have to watch at least 1!” & we were talking about crows & birds all afternoon cuz autism so I thought this is great… they don’t trust me anymore😆

Why must I continue unknowingly reading part 1’s of multiple-book series??😭 Just finished #ShieldOfSparrows and damn- fantastic. I adore Odessa. I love all the mystery. But it very much leaves loose ends and now I have to wait for probably a year to get answers argh!

#DoctorWho Wish World was another great episode. I love how they are bringing back but updating and refreshing the takes on classic Who characters/events. I am thoroughly invested in what’s happening and can’t wait to see how it’s resolved next week. (PLEASE let there be resolution!)

I watched Sinners today. I wept during the multigenerational music scene. It was the absolute most glorious cinematic moment I have ever experienced.

Little late to the party but WOW was this last weekend’s #DoctorWho episode a stunner! I loved the creepiness and how it built off of a previous episode and “monster”. It was captivating. Hoping for more like this.

For those in Arizona in the US, know that Tom Horne the AZ Super of Public Ed, fully supports the closing of the Dept of Education, & wants to be re-elected. The man at least partially responsible for how poorly our state is doing in edu is trying to throw blame on the feds to get re-elected.

Please read Sonderling’s plan of action. He is essentially planning to ignore policy and law to keep “in lockstep” with Trump- his words. His plans can NOT be accomplished WITHOUT ignoring policy and law.
Today, President Donald J. Trump appointed Keith E. Sonderling as Acting Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), raising significant concerns for the nation’s library and museum communities.

Statement on the Appointment of Keith E. Sonderling as Acting Director of IMLS
IMLS's mission must remain nonpartisan and nonpolitical and aligned with the statutory framework established by Congress.

Followed a whim and got this 2 days ago - omg!!😍 Can’t wait for the sequel. Then plunged directly into another of her books, Star Eater, loving it so far. I’m getting Frances Hardinge feels from this author(like, my highest compliment).

Recent reads: The Pumpkin Princess and the Forever Night: absolutely delightful elementary fantasy w/ a mystery for 2nd &up. The Christmas Inn: Hallmark movie in a book🤢It’s NOT my thing. But book club means not always enjoying what I’m reading, just enjoying tearing it apart over cookies later!

Currently watching Emilia Perez on Netflix and YA’LL. They just did a whole song and stretcher-bed dance routine about vaginoplasty and mammoplasty. This is already epic and weird and I had thought it was about a female crime boss so I’m slightly confused but I am here for it.

Book review, Montgomery and the Case of the Golden Key by Tracy Occomy Crowder: very sweet elementary book, squeaky clean, so I’d be comfy w/recc to 2nd & up. Delves into adult topics of politics & history, some social nuance, in an appropriate, easy way for young kids. Mystery adds interest.

I ❤️ all the public library support I’m seeing here. Please also remember school libraries. They serve a vital role to children who are most in need. Some kids can’t get to a public library, but do go to school. We need to keep access to school libraries as a top priority in public education.

Brain isn’t braining enough to read much this weekend bc I’m sick so I’ve been binging series on Disney. The result? Rivals is filled w/ absolutely awful people but somehow I couldn’t stop watching it. Tennant is so good at being bad it’s scary. High Potential is so contrived, but so fun I ignore it

Book reviews! Finally a place I feel comfortable sharing & have an audience for my NetGalley ARCs. Here’s a few I highly recommend: Reinventing Love: How the Patriarchy Sabotages Heterosexual Relations, Unstoppable Brain, Melanin Magic. The 1st is helpful, 2nd life changing, 3rd eye opening.
