I went Out today after a long while not being able to because of various health things going on.
It's amazing how a trip to London is a big deal now when I lived there for a decade.
And fuck me it reminded me why I left. Sensory overload from the minute I stepped off the train.

Sometimes taking photos of flowers feels a bit pointless because you can't capture all the good bits in an image
The smell of the peonies, the way light bounces off sorrel on a windy-sunny day, the surprise of creeping buttercup taking over the garden. That sort of thing.

The rain finally came! Whew.
There are wildfire signs going up in the peak district because it's been so dry. I don't remember that happening in my lifetime. The poor plants and wildlife need a good drenching!

One of the biggest shocks moving out of London to the north was the friendliness.
No one speaks to strangers in London. Up north it's weird to go a day without chatting to one.
The bit I'm in also seems to have loads of ND people - lots of info dumps, not so much small talk.
