There's an enormous gap between our worldviews that (at least online) you lack the rhetorical agility or interpersonal sensitivity to bridge. Because you can't chill out. Charm, friend. Learn to pivot or move on.

What level of training or education do you have in national security, IR, defence studies or a related field? Because I have an extensive post graduate education that covers that stuff, and a career in humanities research in the defence sector.

This kind of thing doesn't have to leave a bad taste in everybody's mouth. And it's probably more dignified for everyone involved. Just saying. 🤷‍♂️

You're never going to get me to agree with that because you don't have the contextual knowledge that I would find epistemologically ontologically convincing. Neither for any of the people you're engaging, including OP. So why not let it go and try another approach next time?

No I mean I have a job.
November 21, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Bud, are you having fun right now? This is joyless and circular. Why carry on with it?
November 21, 2025 at 4:57 PM
K. I'm going back to the grown ups now.

I'm jesting, not arguing. You might consider chilling out a bit when you are engaging people with whom you have substantive disagreements. Otherwise, what's the point of talking? To win the clout wars?

I'm gently pulling your strings on your own framing of the above.

Worth pointing out that there are no B52s in rainbow livery. You're discussing a messily templated, fairly generic meme.

I wonder about what happens to literacy in the longer term of that world. Why would it be taught if it's no longer a scaffold for more complex cognitive and memetic learning tasks? Are there more rudimentary forms of it in the offing? Vulgar and technical forms?

It also highlights the basic proposition that the F-35, with its proprietary software and need for updating prior to every mission, represents: deeper US integration, when Canada needs to disentangle our military from the United States’. Ignoring the software elides this difficult reality.

Total mindset shift in terms of the scale of casualties. It still makes me a little nauseous to contemplate.

I was involved in some unclass grad student projects at CFC ~2 years ago about the survivability of health services models in Latvia in the event of a full scale conflict. The scenarios were really grim. Even the most survivable, adaptive and resilient outcomes were devastating. Would require a.....

It becomes a national prosperity issue when you calculate the impact of Toronto on Canada’s GNP.

If living close to opportunity is a luxury item, Canada is hosed from a productivity perspective.

Definitely had a sense of paradox, though. "the worse, the better", etc. Which might be a paraphrase, but it seems to capture the contrarian nature of a distinct line of his thinking.
