It means half the standard rating system is effectively 1/10, leaving less room for nuance in the upper half of the scale.

I don't really know what the solution is besides "no scores", which won't happen industry-wide.

My problem with that line of thinking is, for 99.9% of people who buy games, what's the point in a review differentiating between a 2 or 3/10?

If we lived in a perfect world where the range was used, how useful is it to know that X is better than Y if neither are worth your time?

Easily the best game I played this year. Haven't experienced the joy of suddenly discovering a new favourite game of all time since maybe Outer Wilds or Disco Elysium.

From what I've heard, it could be down to the fact that it's a game that isn't/couldn't be localised. It being only playable in English limited its chances of getting nominated.

Regardless it's still my game of the year by a mile.
