I think more left wing parties and activists can use this interest as a hook to share more accurate information with people. Everyone wants to be healthy and breathe clean air and drink clean water. They just need to be convinced of the right issues and not just bs.

Similarly Biden was a good candidate for 2020 but the enthusiasm didn’t last. Consultants are always optimizing funding or short term polls, but ultimately voters want more from politicians. They want a direction and a view of the future. Not cynical exploitation of the news cycle.

I think your discussion with Sandeep shows the limits of democratic consultants in general. They seem really good at crafting a message that fits a particular election but with no staying power. Harrell was a good candidate for the year he ran but he didn’t have any long term vision.

He at least used to interview women comedians. And he was even sympathetic when they told stories of harassment and shitty attitudes when they dealt with some male comedians.
