Silly nerd. Pissed off leftist. Grateful dad.
I like my city like I like my scotch: Strong, salty, and with no ICE.

I've been in renewables for over 20 years and this is a pretty great milestone. Hopefully this administration won't sap too much of the momentum we've been building- we can't afford that.

If you are a MAGA type afraid to come see the reality of #Portland, get some friends together and we'll find a time. I'll spend an hour or two live streaming and walking the city. You tell me where you'd like to go, what you'd like to see, and we'll just take a walk and you can see my city as it is.

I am anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, and anti-border. I support reparations, affirmative action, and DEI. I believe love is love and family is a choice, America has made many indefensible missteps, and that we live in a wondrous universe shaped by physical- not supernatural- forces. #NSPM7

Correction: "Trump's view of Portland is common among people with no experience with or knowledge of Portland."
Trump's view of Portland is common outside city limits. Texts between the prez and the gov got heated. We have deets on when and how many boots will be on the ground. And oh yeah, the Legislature passed a transportation bill. Here's what we're following on @opb.org today: www.opb.org/article/2025...
OPB’s First Look: Competing views of Portland outside city limits
Some in Oregon agree with the president's depiction of Portland as a "war-ravaged" city. Here's your First Look at Tuesday's news.

Meanwhile, in the non verbal poo flinging section... This was very well said, and depressing by contrast.

I know it's simplistic of me, but in the present moment it's hard to see a government shutdown as a negative. They're already gutting everything good the fed does even when it's running. Just wish they'd stop collecting money to fund this circus and their billionaire safety net at the same time.

In four days we've gone through Tylenol, the utterly humiliating bloviation in front of the U.N., I hate my opponents, other countries are going to hell, thanks for the broken escalator, Kimmel, and oh by the way Ukraine can take back territory now with NATO support.

Rallies and marches are a great way to establish visibility and reinforce solidarity.

Direct action and civil disobedience carry significant risk of physical or legal harm, but can be effective in impeding unjust activity.

Civil protest, however, is between those and offers the benefit of neither.

@iwriteok.bsky.social As a heads up, the tickets page for the live show says it benefits the"Portland Bail Fund," and the intro voiceover and show notes point to the "Portland Defense Fund" - I think the name is "Defense Fund PDX". Maybe worth correcting so folks can see who they're supporting.

Is it political violence that people are decrying, or political violence not monopolized by the state?

While the ballot was certainly huge and likely intimidating for a lot of voters, this is 100% the wrong solution. Requirements for candidate statements, townhall and debate participation, sure, but a financial hurdle is the wrong move. #pdx #opb

With troops deployed to US cities to try to strongarm political opponents and states undermining the fundamentals of the democratic process, how do we come out of this as a country?

Giving this a shot. I still think Mastodon was better, but the usefulness of a social media platform without people is... questionable.
