no it’s not exactly like the games, but that’s fine because what HAS been created is giving flowers to the source and doing what it can to live up to it! and in a fan’s eyes, that at minimum is what we want

-cinematic universe has been taken. the SCU isn’t without it’s faults (the first movie isn’t as up to snuff as the 2nd & 3rd, the Knuckles series focused too much on Wade, the over-reliance of Carrey as the series has gone on) but i’m invested in seeing where things go with the 4th movie and on!

-so the divergence was already built in. Sonic was the first instance of true divergence with acknowledgement/respect to the source. it nearly diverted in a bad way in regards to Sonic’s design, thank god for that public reaction bcs it absolutely played a part in the overall direction the-

a majority diverged with no proper acknowledgement of the source material or respect towards it, Detective Pikachu was the first instance (for me at least) of a well received adaptation because it acknowledged the source, and i believe it helped that it was based off a side game and not a mainline-

seriously HOW can anybody hate Sonic R songs. i’ve always loved how different Sonic music was pre-Crush 40, i always wondered what if they kept to that RnB style more closely over the years
